History
Bike Walk Escondido was first formed in July of 2013 with the help of WalkSanDiego. Over 30 people, hunger for better access to active transportation, attended our first meeting. Public support for creating complete streets has been strong and the group has formed connections with city staff, elected officials, public welfare community groups, and youth organizations. We have active members from COMPACT, Reveal Escondido Creek, The Escondido Creek Conservancy, Safe Routes to School, Circulate, and are a Bike Walk Alliance Member group.

Mission
Bike Walk Escondido works to ensure that bicycling and walking for transportation and recreation in the Escondido area is both enjoyable and safe.

Vision
Escondido is a complete streets model community whose integrated and safe cycling and walking network inspires people of all ages, income groups, and fitness levels to cycle and walk for transportation and recreation. Our active transportation focus contributes to the health of the residents, the local economy, and the environment.

Values

Relationships—We believe in using the power of positive relationships to partner with decision makers, the business community and public employees to meet our shared goals. We practice open communication and value the ideas and participation of all community members and government and business community representatives.

Thriving Communities—We value a flourishing community the provides for residents needs for a healthy environment, a prosperous local economy, and abundant opportunities for recreation.
